What is Time Balance property in ESSBASE

Time Balance property is one of the hidden property in ESSBASE which comes into picture when you tag any dimension as a Accounts.
If an account dimension member uses the time balance property,it affects how ESSBASE calculates the parent of the member in Time dimension.
ESSBASE has three kind of TB properties:
  • TB First
  • TB Last
  • TB Average
here is the process how to use the TB property
Step1:
This fallowing image is the bare picture of an outline which will be used in the further explanation
The TB (First, Last, Average) should assign to level 0 of the Account dimension.
Right click on the level 0 member of the Account dimension, and click on the Edit member properties
Step2:
Choose the required TB property from the drop down as shown in the below image, now I am considering TB Last as an example.

ESSBASE provides opportunity in selecting the values for TB property . those options are available under Skip options as shown in the below screen shot.in my example I am choosing none.by default it is none.
After assigning the TB property to the level 0 member of Account dimension , the outline looks like.
Step3:
Run the default calculation script.
Step4:
Retrieve the report into the Microsoft Excel Spread Sheet using ESSBASE excel add ins, the results looks as

As discussed for the measure dimension member spent has value of Mar in the Qtr1 and Jun in Qtr2 which is result of Time Balance in ESSBASE
